Here is the news roundup week ending 30 March 2013.
It was quite a busy week in the world of gaming! In terms of game releases we had Bioshock Infinite, Tiger Woods, Terarria (see our review) whilst the 3DS suddenly has a splurge of new and old AAA games released on it’s E-store, including the excellent Luigi Mansion 2.
Epic dropped it’s Unreal Engine 4 tech demo, which looked amazing (even if the narrative was hugely generic), giving us a glimpse into the next generation.
Square Enix reported a bad end to their financial year. Whilst none of their main titles flopped, all missed sales targets. The games in question? Tomb Raider, Hitman Absolution and Sleeping Dogs. In effect we can let Sleeping Dogs off the hook, as it’s the first game in a new IP, and sales projections are guesswork to a degree. With the other two games, its more worrying as they are well established IPs.
Battlefield4 became real, and we all saw the first gameplay footage, which was amazing whilst Rockstar released some new GTA5 screenshots to keep everyone guessing with that title.
Metal gear Solid 5 (yawn) was also confirmed. Sorry to say I never got this game franchise.
Nintendo announced that in May Miiverse goes web based, along with smartphone support. Another social network for you to keep tabs with. It could be interesting to see how that pans out, but along with the PS4 expect your console experience to go beyond your console for the next gen.
So there you go, our list of highlights for the week that was. Quite a few big game announcements and system updates. Keep following us for all the news from the games industry worth knowing.
